A Rip in Heaven

rip-in-heavenMy memoir was published in 2004.  It is the story of a tragedy that my family endured when I was a teenager.  It is my brother’s survival story, my family’s grief-story, and for me, it’s also a battle cry for victims’ rights.

A Rip in Heaven

In addition to being a bestseller, my memoir has been course-adopted into Criminology programs, as part of Victimology studies.  I love the idea that future cops and lawyers are reading about a crime from the victims’ perspective.  It is my hope that this story will change the way readers think about victims.  To quote my cousin Julie, “Who says you can’t change the world?”
